general update

I just returned from Colorado last night. Things went well. That is to say, I had a good time. While I was there I tore my ACL skiing and I will need to have surgery. It does sort of suck, but in the end it will be okay.

School will be starting on Tuesday. I am not ready for it, mentally. I am excited for my classes, but I fear the work that it will take to do well. I am scheduled for 18 credits. I have not done an 18 credit semester yet, so hopefully that will go alright.

I am also not ready for it physically. By that I mean that it is going to be a challenge walking to class with my brace on. I am afraid I'll fall and make the whole situation worse.

Anyway, it will all be good in the end.

Enough for now.

Psalm 33:11

Psalm 33:11
But the Lord's plans stand firm forever;
His intentions can never be shaken.

I have been thinking about this verse a bit recently. There are a few things happening in my life right now that are tough to deal with. Things out of my control; things that if they were in my control I wouldn't how to handle them. In these times it is very easy for me to worry. If we, however, believe what the Bible says in Ps. 33:11 there is no reason to fear. We can trust that God's plans will, ultimately, prevail. This gives me much peace and I rejoice that my God is so amazing.

My Bad Memory

Last night I was talking to my friend Keely Brill and she brought an
important reality to my mind.

She was reminding me that at one point I locked myself out of my house
and I ran into her on campus as I was walking to my dad's office to get
a key from him. Now, I do remember this event, but at the time we were
chatting, I had truly no recollection of what she was talking about.

I commented to her that, as much as I hated saying it, I have gotten to
the point where I'll forget things I don't need to remember -- as if I
were getting old, but not really. She aptly made me wise to the likely
culprit of my memory problems!

Nowadays--meaning after the saturation of technology in our culture--,
people may have memory problems, not because we're getting old or
because we're stupid, but because our memories are all filled up with
SONG LYRICS.

Think about it for a sec. How many songs could you sing almost
word-for-word? Close to a million for most people. Gee-whiz. That takes
a lot o' space, dodden't it?

So, therefore, now I feel not bad about my poor memory of peoples'
names, and stuff because I know it's just because my mind is already
full to the brim with other important info--namely lyrics to my fave
songs.

update on site

As you may be able to tell, I recently updated amSite for the first
time in around 2 years. It was much needed and I think that I am happy
with the results. Again, as some of you know, I have the site
primarily as a place to test out my site designing ability. The
content is sort of a necessary detail for me; the design is the primary
thing for me.

I hope you all like it. Tell me what you think.

Fun Food Fusions

Recently there was an episode of Simpsons in which they introduced some
fun new foods. Nuts and Gum - "Together at last" and Bubble Crunch -
"The Gum with the Cracker Center".

I found these two very funny and my roommate and I set out to develop
some more fun foods. I have coined these Fun Food Fusions, or Tri-FFFs
(pronounced "triffs"). For your enjoyment, I'll share with you some of
our favorite tri-fffs.

In no particular order...

1. Tater Zots - "The potato puffs with the zingy center"
2. Metamu-Shells and Cheese "The creamy goodness you need!"
3. Chaulk Chip Cookies
4. Bass McNuggets
5. Rice-A-Pony

Some of those are a tinge week, but they're good for a few laughs. I
hope ya'll like 'em.

If you have any additions, feel free to comment.

Hello

This is my first real weblog entry on this site. I have, for a while, been trying to add a weblog to my personal website (http://andrewmeyer.tripod.com), but I was unable to find one that was suitable to my needs and desires. I think I have finally found one and I hope it will work well for me.

I sort of doubt that anyone will be reading this, however, if you are I thank you. Feel free to comment whenever you feel like it.

I will attempt to post from time to time to inform my readers of my current interests and endeavors.

Until then, rock on.

Andrew
